Crumble Mon 20 Apr 2009 15:49:30 | We are continuing successfully with getting our new Manta into a seaworthy condition. We still, though, have some difficulties that someone may have previous experience of. Can anyone help with the following:- We need to remove the pushpit but the nuts are glassed over. If I stand on my head in the cockpit locker I can see it but can't get my arms in...using just one arm and touch I can't clear the nut? Also what size is the nut? I am also trying to source a pawl spring for the winch? Any help would be very gratefully received. Crumble

diwil Wed 22 Apr 2009 08:42:02 | Hello Crumble We have no experience with the pushpit but we replaced the Pawl Spring our self. Take the Pawl spring of a ?clothes peg? and bend it with two pliers. The whole thing is probably too thick (that was the case with us) Just make the spring flat and thin with a grinder Place the spring in the winch and it will work Some pictures of the ?clotes peg? we have used: http://www.diana-ozon.nl/images/wasknijper.jpg http://www.cobes.nl/images/wasknijper.jpg This weekend I will take a picture of de Winch and the Pawl Spring If I do not forget? of course hi Grt, Dion

Crumble Mon 27 Apr 2009 13:58:47 | Pawl spring now replaced (what an ingenious solution...must try thinking more laterally). Also I have removed the centre plate and now cutting a new one. Still not removed the pushpit stanchion but this is more to do with weather rather than failure. Many thanks to Mark and Diwil. |
